Bliss offers a wide range of services to provide support to parents and families of babies born premature or sick. Find out more about our services.

Bliss helpline and email

The Bliss helpline and email service is volunteer-led, and during the month of August 2018, we will operate a limited service whilst volunteers take their family holidays. The opening hours of the service during this time will be as follows:

  • Monday 6 from 10.00am to 12 noon and 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Tuesday 7 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Wednesday 8 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Friday 10 from 10.00am to 12 noon
  • Monday 13 from 10.00am to 12 noon and 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Tuesday 14 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Monday 20 from 10.00am to 12 noon and 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Tuesday 21 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Tuesday 28 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Wednesday 29 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm

When the Bliss helpline is closed you can leave a message and a volunteer will call you back when the service is next open. You can visit the Support section of our website for information, and you can also visit the Bliss and Netmums forum to speak to other parents.

The Bliss helpline service will return to the normal advertised hours below on Monday 3 September 2018.

Peer support

Anyone can also access peer support through our online parent messageboard at the Bliss and Netmums forum for parents, families or carers of babies born premature or sick.

Interpreting services

Bliss is a member of Language Line, the telephone interpreter service, which has access to qualified interpreters in over 200 languages. Call the Bliss helpline and provide your name, telephone number and the language you require. We will then call you back with a qualified interpreter in your chosen language, so you can receive the best support.

Next Generation Text

Next Generation Text (NGT) service is designed to enhance phone calls for users who may be deaf, hearing and or speech impaired. Call 18001 0808 801 0322.

Counselling

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) provide a search to help you find a local counsellor or therapist near you.

You may also wish to speak to staff at the hospital where your baby was born to see if they offer a counselling service.

Bliss have some information on a small group of counsellors who have had contact with Bliss. You can contact these counsellors direct for support.
